Nikki Ruffin, Ed.D, LCPC, CADC, ACS

Dr. Ruffin’s approach is that effective counseling develops from establishing a collaborative relationship with clients, as they are the experts in their lives. Through psychodynamic therapy individuals gain a self-awareness and understanding of the influence of their past on present circumstances, and enables individuals to explore unresolved conflicts and symptoms that arise from past dysfunctional relationships and manifest themselves in current issues going in their lives.

Dr. Ruffin understands that people want to be healthy and happy and sometimes just do not know where to start. She utilizes a combination of Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) approaches as both incorporate the aspects of self-awareness and change.

Mental wellness influences all areas of your life including physical health, relationships and self image and fulfilling your purpose. Take the step towards better mental health today. She has experience working in Alternative School, University, Hospital, Community Mental Health and Correctional settings with kids, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Dr. Ruffin currently works as a full time psychotherapist at Cook County Department of Corrections and she is also a contract clinician and clinical supervisor with H.E.L.P LLC. She also provides counseling and consulting services with Teladoc and Aunt Martha’s CMHC.
